3 Intentionally Set Fires Keep Charlotte Firefighters Busy

Charlotte firefighters were busy Friday battling three intentionally set house fires. All three structures were unoccupied and fire investigators said all three fires were intentionally set. The first of which was reported reported at 2255 Sharon Road shortly before 1:30 am. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 1:33 and were met with heavy smoke and fire conditions involving a 2-story house. (36) Firefighters were needed to bring this fire under control in a little over one hour. Damage to this structure was estimated at $250,000. No one was injured.

The second fire was reported just before 4:30 pm. Firefighters arrived on scene at 4432 East W.T. Harris Boulevard and reported heavy smoke issuing from a 1-story house. Fire suppression activities closed a portion of W.T. Harris during rush hour and caused a gridlock for a period of time. (27) Firefighters were needed to knock-down this fire in 9 minutes. The fire caused an estimated $15,000 dollars in damage, no one was injured.

While firefighters were still mopping up this fire, crews were dispatched to yet another structure fire at 7405 The Plaza. Firefighters reported heavy smoke visible while in route. First arriving firefighters reported heavy smoke and fire conditions involving a 1-story house. Firefighters mounted an aggressive, coordinated fire attack and were able to knock-down this well-entrenched fire. (27) Firefighters were needed to bring this house fire under control in 21 minutes. Damage to this home was estimated at $20,000; no one was hurt.

Fire Officials are asking anyone with information pertaining to these fires to call the Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force at 704.336.2922 or Crime Stoppers at 704.334.1600.
