Edit Post
At 8:30 pm on Wednesday July 15th members of the Charlotte Fire Department including Battalions 5, 3, and 2, Engines 26, 17, 12, 10, Ladder 26, and Rescue 10 were called to service for a reported structure fire at the Coffey Creek Cafe. The Coffey Creek Cafe located at 1700 Center Park Drive is in close proximity to the Police & Fire Training Academy and was frequented by firefighters and police officers. Firefighters from nearby Station 26 were first to arrive at 8:36 pm, reported heavy smoke coming from a 1-story restaurant and declared a working fire.
Firefighters used water from a nearby fire hydrant to supply the hoselines they deployed to fight the fire while other firefighters cut a hole in the roof to allow heat, smoke, and super-heated gases to escape. Twenty-eight firefighters were needed to knockdown the flames in 19 minutes. Fire Investigators said the fire caused extensive damage in excess of $100,000 but said it could be some time before determining the cause. There were no injuries reported.
