Structure Fire/ tri-level house @ 213 Waverly Hall Drive
Just after 2 pm Saturday June 20th members of the Charlotte Fire Department to include Battalion 4, Battalion 7, Engines 14, 6, 19, 29, Ladder 29, and Rescue 3 were called to service for a reported structure fire at 213 Waverly Hall Drive in Southeast Charlotte. Firefighters from nearby Stations 14 & 6 were first to arrive at 2:16 pm and reported heavy fire and smoke involving the garage of a tri-level home. While a team of Firefighters cut a hole in the roof to allow smoke, heat and super-heated gases to escape, other Firefighters used water from a nearby fire hydrant to supply hose lines they deployed to fight the fire. Twenty-eight (28) Firefighters were needed to control the fire in 35 minutes. (2) Firefighters were treated on scene and returned to duty. The monetary damage to this home is an estimated $100,000. Charlotte Fire Investigators determined the fire began in the garage and was ruled accidental; Two people were displaced.
Structure Fire/ 1-Story House @ 5315 Lewhaven Drive
Structure fire/ 1-Story Vacant House @ 4415 Drifter Dr
Just before 9 pm on Sunday June 15th members of the Charlotte Fire Department to include Battalions 4 & 7, Engines 3, 23, 29, 14, Ladder 29, Rescue 3, and Brush 29 were called to service for a reported structure fire at 4415 Drifter Drive in East Charlotte. Firefighters from nearby Station #3 were first to arrive at 8:53 pm and reported heavy smoke and fire conditions involving an approximately 1500 square foot home. Firefighters used water from a nearby fire hydrant to supply hose lines they deployed to fight the fire which caused extensive damage to this home. Twenty-seven (27) Firefighters were needed to control the fire in 28 minutes. This unoccupied home was destroyed and fire officials placed damage estimates at over $100,000. The origin and cause of this fire remains under investigation. There were no injuries to report. Fire investigators are requesting that anyone with information pertaining to this fire to call Crime Stoppers # 704.334.1600
Structure fire/ 2-Story Condominiums @ 7901 Lakehouse Lane
Shortly before 6 am on Sunday June 7th members of the Charlotte Fire Department to include Battalions 5 & 3, Engines 20, 16, 24, 12, Ladder 16, Rescue 10 were called to service for a reported structure fire at the Quail Run Condominiums located at 7901 Lakehouse Lane in South Charlotte. Battalion 5 was first to arrive at 5:49 am and reported heavy smoke coming from the attic of this 2-story apartment building. Firefighters used water from a nearby fire hydrant to supply hoselines they deployed while fighting this fire. Twenty-seven (27) Firefighters were needed to knockdown the fire in 30 minutes. All residents were able to escape the fire without incident and there were no injuries to report. The fire damaged four units and caused an estimated $150,000 in damage; two of the units were unoccupied. Fire Investigators said the fire began in a wall and was caused by an unspecified electrical issue. The Red Cross and property management worked to provide assistance for the occupants who were displaced.
Structure fire/ 2-Story Apartments @ 4531 Wynbrook Way
Just before 7 pm Friday June 5th members of the Charlotte Fire Department to include Battalion 6, Battalion 2, Engines 22, 11, 7, 4, Ladder 18, and Rescue 10 were called to service for a reported structure fire at the Tanglewood Apartments located at 4531 Wynbrook Way in North Charlotte. Firefighters from nearby Station #22 were first to arrive @ 6:57 pm and reported heavy smoke coming from the second floor of this 2-story apartment. Firefighters used water from a nearby fire hydrant to supply hoselines they deployed to extinguish the fire that damaged four units while others used special fans to remove smoke, heat and super-heated gases from the structure. Twenty-seven (27) Firefighters were needed to knockdown the fire in 17 minutes. Fire Investigators said the fire began in a kitchen and was caused by food left cooking on a stove. All of the residents were able to escape the fire without incident. The occupants of the fire apartment were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm. The fire caused an estimated $30,000 - $40,000 in damage. One firefighter sustained a minor injury while engaged in firefighting activities. The Red Cross was requested to assist the four families who were displaced as a result of this fire.
