Incident Synopsis
Just before 6:30 Sunday evening Charlotte Firefighters responded to reports of a house on fire in South Charlotte. Firefighters from nearby Station 26 were first to arrive and reported heavy smoke coming from this 1-story home. It took firefighters about 15 minutes to bring this fire under control, but not before the fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damage. There were no other injuries to report but, the four occupants of this group home were displaced. The owner of this group home was working to find temporary shelter for the occupants. How and where the fire began has not been determined and remains under investigation.

Incident Synopsis
Just after 3:30 Sunday afternoon Charlotte Firefighters were called to service after receiving reports of a fire at the Southern Metals Corporation in West Charlotte. Firefighters from Station 2 were first to arrive and reported a working fire involving a large scrap metal pile. Because of the magnitude of the fire and the materials involved the Incident Commander immediately requested additional resources which brought a second alarm assignment to the scene. As the fire continued to intensify a third alarm was transmitted, this brought over 60 firefighters to the scene. It took firefighters almost 2 ½ hours to bring this massive fire under control. There were no other injuries to report. How and where the fire began has not been determined and remains under investigation.
NOTE: There was no damage to structures.

Shortly before 10 am Sunday morning Charlotte Firefighters responded to reports of a person on fire in the 5400 block of N. Tryon Street behind the Public Storage facility. Firefighters from nearby Station 7 were first to arrive and found a male patient with life-threatening burns and a working brush fire. Additional resources were immediately requested to assist with putting the fire out. The burn victim, believed to be homeless was treated on scene by firefighters and transported by Medic personnel to CMC main with 2nd & 3rd degree burns involving at least 30 % of his body. It took approximately 20 Firefighters a little over 30 minutes to control the brush fire. There were no other injuries to report. How and where the fire began has not been determined and remains under investigation.
