The fire began in the kitchen and was caused by food left cooking unattended on the stove; the fire caused approximately $30,000 in damage

Two canines were rescued from the burning home; one canine was resuscitated on scene and began breathing on its own.
Evacuations/ Persons Displaced
The Red Cross was on scene assisting one adult and two teens with securing temporary housing.

Incident Synopsis
Just after 6 pm before Friday evening Charlotte Firefighters responded to reports of a house on fire @ 3809 Avalon Avenue. FF’s arrived to find heavy smoke & fire coming from this two-story house. It took about 15 minutes to control this blaze, which caused an estimated $30,000 in damage. There were no injuries to civilians or FF’s, but two canine were rescued from this burning home. One canine was resuscitated on the scene and began breathing on its own. The Red Cross was called to assist a family of one adult and two teens with securing temporary housing. Fire Investigators determined that the fire began in the kitchen and was caused by food left cooking unattended on the stove. The Charlotte Fire Department would like to remind residents that food left cooking unattended is the number one cause of house fires. Please be sure to have a working smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector in your home.
