Just before 11 pm Wednesday evening a CMPD officer reported smoke coming from the Econo Auto Painting Company in North Charlotte. First arriving FF’s from nearby Station #11 reported heavy smoke visible and declared a working fire. Because of the type construction of this structure and the extent of the fire conditions, the Incident Commander requested a 2nd alarm assignment which brought additional resources to the scene. Forty-four FF’s were summoned to the scene of this blaze that was controlled in about 20 minutes, but not before causing an estimated $250K in damages. THE FIRE BEGAN IN THE PAINT BOOTH; RULED ACCIDENTAL CAUSED BY DISCARDED COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS. There were no injuries to report.
