Incident Synopsis
A passing motorist called the CFD 911 communication center just after 4:30 am, Friday morning to report a possible house on fire in the 2220 block of Eastway Drive. When members of the CFD arrived they described heavy fire and smoke conditions involving over 50% of this 1-story brick home. No injuries were reported and damages estimated by fire officials were set between $50-100K. The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force responded and the origin and cause remains under investigation. Fire investigators are looking at possible activity by vagrants or homeless people as a factor into why this fire may have occurred.
