CFD – Over 100 / Over 40
Structure/ Location
Multiple dwellings including Doral/ Cavalier Apartments, Windsor Harbor Apartments, numerous single family homes @ Winfield Drive, Dunlavin Way, Sandhurst Drive, Fanni Circle, Hungerford Place, Masonic Drive, Spring Valley Rd, Hampton Ave, Shannonhouse Drive, Twiford Drive, & Museum Place.
Cause & Origin/Damage Estimates
Rain from the remnants of tropical storm Faye
Injuries/Accidents
1 firefighter bitten by a feline while attempting to evacuate.
Evacuations/ Persons Displaced
Numerous evacuees; at least 400 units were evacuated @ Doral Cavalier Apartments alone. Numerous evacuations were also made in the locations listed above. The Red Cross opened a shelter @ East Mecklenburg High beginning at 6:00 am this morning.

Incident Synopsis
The Charlotte Fire Department responded to 162 calls for service from 12 am – 8 am this morning. Approximately 69 of the calls were related to flooding. Dozens of FF’s using swiftwater rescue gear and numerous rescue boats were used to evacuate and rescue citizens from flood waters which threatened and effected numerous dwellings and motor vehicles. Be advised that this is a preliminary report and may not include all areas where evacuations were made. More information to follow.
